Garlic arrives. Garlic has opinions. Garlic stays on your fingers for three business days. Garlic is your Aunt Selma that you introduce to friends and then wonder what sort of shenanigans are going to come out of her mouth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd yet look at her here.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI made her all soft and lovely and slightly dramatic against this deep, warm purple.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA whole bulb, a few rogue cloves, painted loosely on rough-edged paper because I am becoming increasingly obsessed with making these little paintings feel imperfect and tactile and alive.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is also something wonderfully beautiful about painting extremely ordinary things.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThings we walk past. Things we chop up.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThings sitting forgotten on the kitchen counter until they turn all wrinkly and weird. (Maybe this painting is my apology to all the garlic I have killed by neglect?)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBut now look! Put them on a purple background and suddenly you're like:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWell fuck. Look at that garlic.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd THAT is exactly the kind of nonsense I hoped would happen when I decided to make 100 paintings without deciding what the 100 paintings were going to be.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo here she is.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe garlic.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePainting No. 3.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShe has no known relationship to the chicken or the banana at this time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBut we're only three paintings in.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAnything could happen.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOriginal acrylic painting on rough-edged paper.
